St. Kiuchi Day & Tipo Pils Day at The Birch | Norfolk Craft Beer Events

Hi Friends,

Two of our favorite Birch traditions are coming up, and we wanted to give you a save the date so you can mark your calendars.

Tipo Pils Day

Thursday March 26th at 5pm

A celebration of one of our favorite pilsners — Birrificio Italiano’s legendary Tipo Pils. The US celebration is a few weeks delayed due to shipping, but thats okay, we can’t wait to try this year’s Tipo!!

This year’s Tipo on tap is called TIPOPILS – BACK TO THE FUTURE. Our DeLorean takes us back 20 years (or maybe twenty years ahead!) to a contemporary reimagining of the first recipe brewed in Lurago Marinone: single-hop Hersbrucker and a generous double dry hopping, for an overwhelming herbal aroma with earthy undertones that will anchor you to your glass. And as Agostino said thirty years ago: “You’re not ready for this beer yet, but your kids are gonna love it!”

St. Kiuchi Day

Saturday March 28 4pm

The Birch was only three months old when the earthquake and tsunami struck Japan on March 11, 2011.

When we heard that Kiuchi Brewery had stopped brewing beer to bottle water for nearby villages — despite their own buildings sustaining damage — we wanted to help.

So we created St. Kiuchi Day.

What began fifteen years ago as a small event featuring a single case of Hitachino beer has grown into a full Kiuchi Brewery tap takeover and tasting event.

Each year we donate a portion of the evening’s sales to a relief effort.

We look forward to seeing you,

Malia
