Branching Out: Widowmaker’s Geomancer at The Birch

Fresh pours & little discoveries with Malia.

I love when we get the opportunity to bring Widowmaker into The Birch. So when Geomancer became available, I was excited to get it on tap—and into my glass.

Meet Widowmaker

Widowmaker Brewing opened in Braintree, Massachusetts, in 2017. For Geomancer, they teamed up with Schilling Beer Co. to celebrate Widowmaker’s ninth anniversary with a New Zealand-style pilsner.

The collaboration gave them a chance to explore the style together and showcase hops selected from New Zealand’s Freestyle Farms.

What’s in my glass?

Tropical character, mango, and a touch of bitterness.

Geomancer is refreshing, but its tropical hoppiness keeps you going back for another sip. At 4.5% ABV, it’s my pick if you usually enjoy a lager and want to branch out into a little more hop character.

The brewery’s tasting notes include peach, mango, and apricot. What will you find?

Come branch out with us

Geomancer is on draft at The Birch in Norfolk’s Chelsea neighborhood. Come grab a seat and try a pour—we can compare notes.
