Weekend Edition August 23rd

THIS WEEKEND AT THE BIRCH

FRESHLY TAPPED | NEW TO THE DRAFT LIST

New on Tap!

Dovetail Festweizen - Hefeweizen - Illinois
“This year, we decided to put the Weizen (wheat) into the Wiesn (what the Munich locals call the place where the Oktoberfest tents are pitched), and make a party wheat for the festive season. Darker in color than our Hefeweizen, this robust wheat features notes of caramel and banana bread crust, and is complemented by aromas and flavors of clove spice, dates and banana flambé. A snuggly Hefe to take us into the fall, it’s kind of our interpretation of a PSL.”

Other Half Blue Crab - Hazy IPA - New York
”A tribute to one of the best things (ok, the best thing) you can pull from the Chesapeake Bay. We used some decidedly classic US grown hops, Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe, all hand selected for maximum incredibleness.”

Foam Disco Lemonade - Lemongrass Tart Wheat - Vermont
“A summer classic from the early days, available Friday at noon in cans for the first time. Disco Lemonade is 4.2% Tart Wheat Ale brewed with lemongrass, and conditioned on lime. Aromas of bright citrus spill off the head of this beer while memories of fresh lemonade dance on the palate. Crisp, refreshing, nostalgic.”

Castellum Dragonfruit & Passion Fruit Cider - Fruited Cider - California
This San Diego native was established in 2022 by award winning cider maker Tyler Lynch. Castellum Ciders offers a modern take on classic flavors with a unique approach to apple forward cider.”

 COOLER CONFIDENTIAL | BOTTLE HIGHLIGHTS

Kiuchi Hitachino Sunbathing Owl

"Sunbathing Owl" is a collaboration citrus ale between Japan's Kiuchi Brewery (Hitachino Nest) and the Philippines' Engkanto Brewery. This refreshing golden ale combines the floral zest of Philippine calamansi with the subtle spice of Japanese sansho pepper, all balanced with Japanese malts and hops.

Have you ever seen a Sunbathing Owl? They just love soaking up the sun!

For the Spritz Lovers

C. Cassis Spritz

“The C. Cassis "CC Spritz" is a canned, 5.4% ABV sparkling blackcurrant aperitif created by Rachael Petach in the Hudson Valley, New York. It's a ready-to-drink, not-too-sweet cocktail made from lightly fermented blackcurrants, seltzer, botanicals (like citrus peel, cardamom, and verbena), and a touch of wild honey.”

Black Currants were once banned from cultivation in the US, read about it here and their comeback!
