Branching Out: Kiuchi Hitachino Nest Daisy Ale at The Birch

Fresh pours & little discoveries with Malia.

A familiar owl, a floral can, and a connection to K-pop that I wanted to know more about.

Hitachino has been a longtime favorite at The Birch. Daisy Ale gives us another side of the brewery to explore—and the story starts with someone else’s favorite beer.

From a favorite beer to a special project

Daisy Ale brings together Japan’s Kiuchi Brewery and K-pop artist G-DRAGON. According to importer B. United, the project grew out of his love for Nest White!

Look closely at the daisies

The flowers on the can aren’t just decoration.

The daisy with one petal missing is a signature symbol of G-DRAGON’s brand, PEACEMINUSONE, whose artwork appears on the packaging.

G-Dragon’s influence on modern Asian pop culture, music and fashion arelegendary.

His cultural influence also reaches the classroom: USC Annenberg offered a spring 2026 course exploring K-pop through G-DRAGON.

What’s inside?

Created under the concept of "Blooming Your Daisy” – The Moment Your Daisy Blooms," the brewers of Hitachino Nest Beer devoted extensive research, testing, and refinement to develop a recipe exclusively for this project. Inspired by the elegance and delicate beauty of the daisy, they crafted a unique golden ale featuring dried chamomile and honey.

Try something different at The Birch

Whether you already recognize the Hitachino owl, follow G-DRAGON, or simply want to try a beer brewed with chamomile and honey, Daisy Ale gives us something to talk about.

Ask us about it next time you’re at The Birch in Norfolk’s Chelsea neighborhood.
